My Month with June

Celebrating the one and only June Squibb for a whole damn month, like she deserves!!

If the world were a fair and just place, we would be propping up June Squibb the same way we propped up Betty White in the last decade or so of her life. I was always a little fatigued by Betty White Mania, and maybe deep down part of the reason was because I wanted that little old cutie to share the wealth. We’re a society that’s shamefully neglectful of our elderly, so while it was refreshing to see a woman in her 90s get her flowers from the masses, and very fervently I might add, one wonders: What took so long? And why stop at Betty White?

Luckily, June Squibb is having a moment right now, and so I took the month of June as an opportunity to bask in this moment with her. With a career spanning over 65 years, it’s hard to know where to even begin exploring her work. So, to make it easy on myself, I went with two films that were already quite familiar to me, and three more recent entries that were all first-watches. Welcome to June Squibb June 2k24!!!
